Tranquility ~ Dusty Attic

Hi everybody! It's almost Summer here in Sweden, so I thought I'd show you a page with a photo from last Summer. A glass of rosé wine in our garden! The title "Tranquility" suits this photo so well. It was a perfect Summer night, I was sitting in the garden with a glass of wine, just watching the laundry dry!

The title is from Word pack #8 (DA1171) and was painted with white gesso. The Swirly Vine #4 (DA1101) was painted white too.

Among the flowers and leaves I have put a couple of Maiden Hair Fern (DA1167) that I first painted white, then embossed with Mix'd Media Inx, color Leather.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Swirlydoos April kit!

Hi there! Today it's my turn to share some projects with the April kit. I have three layouts to show you today, and also a little tutorial!

I started with the sketch, and for this layout I actually used a photo of ME! I know, I can hardly believe it myself!

Anyway, here is the sketch, gorgeous as always:

And here is my layout:

I just love the kraft, pink and white together! I kept the cute little butterflies from BoBunny raw, to go with the Petaloo doilies and kraft flowers.

A couple of close-ups:

The title, Dream Passionately, is chipboard from Dusty Attic and included in the embellie add-on. I kept this piece raw too. I tucked Angelicas cute little butterflies in here too. Love these!

Next, a layout about love. This is a very special photo. The hands belong to my grandmother, who is 92 years old, and one of my cousins. We have very strong family bonds, and this photo says it all to me. Love completely.

For once, I didn't use any mists or stencils on the background, just a thin layer of white gesso. I wanted this layout to a bit "cleaner" than I usually make them. I painted the beautiful frame from Blue Fern Studios white and then added the white ribbon, flowers, some cheesecloth and finally the Dusty Attic title and a few pearls.

Close-ups:

And now for my third layout today, a page about my darling daughter and our most recent family member, our little puppy Fanny.

Lots of white gesso, clear gesso and mists on the background! I then painted the fence white and arranged the photo and flowers with the little iron piece (adore this one!!). I used Angelicas amazing butterflies here too, and the Dusty Attic title was painted white.

Here's a little tutorial on how I altered the BoBunny butterflies, and I call them "newspaper butterflies".

First, I painted the butterflies with white gesso, using a sponge.

Then I let them dry upside down on a newspaper (sometimes works with patterned paper too, but I find newspaper the best for this technique). This only takes a few seconds, depending on how much gesso you used.

When I pulled the butterflies away, some of the newspaper print stuck on them.

I finished the butterflies off using clear gloss varnish.

Here are the finished butterflies!

I used the same technique on the Dusty Attic flower stem chipboard piece that came with the March kit.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Brilliant ~ Dusty Attic April Inspiration Board

Hi! Today I have a new layout to share, using the Dusty Attic April Inspiration Board. I got really inspired by the colors, not my usual colors but I loved them! Dark blue and purple is a fantastic color combo, and I had so much fun putting together the papers, flowers and coloring the chippies to go with them.

Here is the Inspiration Board for this month:

Don't you just love the colors and this amazing photo!?

Dusty Attic chipboard and flowers used for this page:

Branch #4 (DA1182) - painted white and then embossed with dark blue embossing powder
Branch #5 (DA1183) - misted with purple mist and then embossed here and there with bronze embossing powder
Stars #3 (DA1153) - painted white
Maiden Hair Fern (DA1167) - painted white
Dusty in Blooms in blue and purple
Dusty Roses in dark purple

Here are some close-ups for you:

Serenity ~ Dusty Attic

Hi there! Today I have a sea-themed layout to share, and I used lots of Dusty Attic chipboard with a sea-theme. The photo is of my darling daughter and her cousin, at the beach one day a couple of years ago.

Dusty Attic chipboard used:

Lighthouses # 2 - painted white and inked with gray ink
Seagulls (DA1042) - painted white and then inked with dark blue ink
Serenity from Word pack # 5 (DA1046) - painted white and inked with dark blue and light blue ink
Seashells mini (DA0559) - painted white
Page pebble # 6 (DA1111)

And here are some close-ups for you:

Lots of layering, flowers in blue, white and red, and then cheesecloth to add that ocean feeling!

Besides the seashells from Dusty Attic, I have used some resin pieces and also some real shells (bought these, can't find seashells like these in Sweden!)

Thank you for stopping by today!

Swirlydoos March kit ~ Garden Romance

Hi everybody! Today I can finally share my projects made with the amazing March kit from Swirlydoos - Garden Romance. This kit is filled with lovely papers from Fabscraps and Blue Fern Studios, and embellishment from Prima, Kaisercraft, Martha Stewart, Petaloo, Dusty Attic and much, much more! To remind you of this fantastic kit, here it is:

When I get my kit and add-ons (flower and embellie add-on) I start by laying everything out on our large kitchen table (because my scraproom is too much of a mess to have room for all the goodies in this kit), and just take everything in for a while. I then start planning my layouts, and I do so combining the papers two and two (or three sometimes) and then add embellishment to go with them. When I start creating I usually mix everything up again, but the first plan is somewhere in my head. I just love the endless possibilities with these kits!!

I usually start with the sketch layout, but this month I actually scrapped the sketch last.

The sketch this month:

Here's my take on the sketch:

I used the frames from Cosmo Cricket, from the embellie add-on, for my photos. The background paper is from Blue Fern Studios and just Beautiful! I also adore the pearl branches from Martha Stewart (from the embellie add-on). I added some flowers from my own stash (because I used up most of the kit flowers on  my other pages - you can see that below!)

A couple of close-ups:

Lots of layering - using cut-outs from the other BFS-paper in the main kit.

Next, a layout for the All that flutters-challenge:

I adore pink and gray together and this layout is all about those colors! I have used the stencil from the Medium add-on (butterflies) with clear gesso and mists (pink, gray and purple).

All the  flowers used for this layout (except a couple of purple roses) are from the main kit or flower add-on. I adore the flower layers from Petaloo - just amazing!

The chipboard flower from Dusty Attic i cut into two pieces, painted them white and layered the under the paper pieces. I then decorated with charms from a previous kit.

My next layout is a scalloped shaped one, with a photo of one of our darling cats:

I have layered three papers from Fabscraps after cutting them and distressing the edges. I have also painted the edges with gesso and texture paste, to get a real shabby look.

I have used the Picket Fence chipboard piece from Blue Fern Studios (embellie add-on). The Petaloo berry clusters are from the flower add-on.

The title, Love Completely, is from Dusty Attic.

And my final layout with this totally stunning kit:

Lots of layering, circles in the background are from the stencil in the Medium add-on.

Thank you for stopping by today!
