Follow your dreams ~ Donna Salazar

Hi! Today I have a card to share, using GCD Studios and Donna's Natural Beauty collection. I used the 6x6 paper pad - perfect when you are creating cards! Papers used are: Teal Burlap B, Rosey B (for the butterfly) and Wall Vines A. I have painted the edges of the background papers with white gesso. This gives a soft, yet shabby look.

The butterfly die is from Spellbinders and Donna's - Wonderful Wings. I have painted the edges with white gesso and then sprinkled som Fairydust glitter on.

Underneath the chipboard swirl, I have placed bling circles from Want2Scrap and Donna's.

Finally I decorated with some flowers and a little charm on the butterfly.

A couple of close-ups:

Love Everyday ~ Dusty Attic

I love circles, so I just adored Nadias beautiful sketch this month!

I have created a mixed media layout, using lots of texture paste, gesso, inks and mists - and of course Dusty Attic chipboard!

On the Picket Fence Border (DA0175) I have put a little Heart Arrow #2 (DA1026). I have painted the fence white and then distressed it a bit. The arrow was misted with gold and pink mist.

I have misted the flowers too - here you can see Dusty in Blooms Celestial White and Bridal Veil:

The Chevrons (DA0992) I painted white, misted with pink and gold mist and then glossed with Dusty in Color Clear Gloss Varnish. Tip: if you put on the varnish before the mist dries, it will melt into the varnish, which gives a fab effect, almost like marble!

Sweet Baby ~ Donna Salazar

Hi there! Today I have a set of cards to show you, and I have used papers from GCD Studios and Donna's Natural Beauty collection. I have used the paper Rosey, front and back. I have also used Mix'd Media Stax, the printed paper.

I have layered the papers and put some cheese cloth between two of the layers. I also painted with some gesso here and there.

The sentiments I cut of from GCD Studios and Donna's 12x12 pad image sheet from the Family Jeans collection.

The corrugated swirls I painted with white gesso and let dry on a piece of the printed paper from the Mix'd Media Stax (this way some of the printed text rubs off onto the painted surface).

I then decorated with some flowers and seashells.

Finally I sprayed some Smooch Spritz, color Pralines & Cream, on the flowers and shells.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Sisters ~ Dusty Attic

Hi there! Today I have a layout and a tutorial to share, and I have used one of my fav Dusty Attic chipboard pieces - the Vintage Frame (DA0254)!

Here's my layout, it is me and one of my sisters in this photo. I have three sisters and they are all very special to me.

Before I share my tut on how I painted the frame, I have lots of close-ups for you:

The Mini Bicycle (DA1004) is embossed with Mix'd Media Inx, colors Honey and Leather.

For my title, I used Mini ABC Set Upper (DA0861). I just painted the letters white.

The gorgeous butterflies are from Reneabouquets.

A closer look at the frame:

And now for the tutorial on the Vintage Frame. I actually had no clue on how this would turn out when I started, so if you find the steps confusing from time to time, it's just me playing and having fun! And that's what art is about, isn't it? Having fun!

So here we go!

This is what I started with:

The Vintage Frame, white gesso, Mix'd Media Inx Embossing powder (color Leather), Dusty Attic in colour: Vintage Gold and Clear Gloss Varnish.

I first painted the frame with white gesso:

I then painted with Dusty in Colour, Vintage Gold, using a sponge.

Before the paint had dried, I put some embossing powder on, just here and there:

This is what the frame looked like after heated. The wet paint under the embossing powder gave some extra texture:

When this powder, color Leather, dries, the color shifts from dark brown to bronze - cool!

I wasn't satisfied with the result, so I took out some mists, Heidi Swapps Gold mist and Smooch Spritz, color Evergreen. But before misting, I applied Clear Gloss Varnish here and there, and let it dry before misting:

I sprayed the frame with the mists, and wiped some of the ink off using a napkin:

Still not satisfied, I put on more Leather embossing powder:

After heating, the framed looked like this:

From a different angle:

As a final step, I misted with the Smooch Spritz one more time, on a few spots, and then wiped away some of the ink:

This is the final result, and I really, really love this look! It looks aged and with lots of texture, just the way I like it :)

I hope you like this too, thank you for stopping by today!
